Scottish Apprenticeship Week: How Paradigm Landscapes Supports the Next Generation

Scottish Apprenticeship Week is a time to celebrate the opportunities that apprenticeships create for young people and businesses across Scotland. At Paradigm Landscapes, we are proud to play a role in shaping the next generation of skilled workers through our collaboration with Tigers and Morgan Sindall Construction.

Creating Opportunities Through Collaboration

As well as directly employing modern apprentices, we actively provide hands-on opportunities for those in the tigers’ joint venture with Morgan Sindall Construction. This initiative allows apprentices to gain real-world experience by joining our team on-site, working alongside experienced professionals on a range of landscaping projects.

Working across both residential and commercial projects, apprentices develop a versatile skill set, from paving and planting to groundworks and site preparation. More importantly, they gain the invaluable experience of working as part of a professional team in a real construction environment.

Learning Through Doing

A key benefit of the joint venture is the practical learning experience it provides. Apprentices often work on projects from start to finish. This hands-on involvement gives them a strong understanding of site operations, teamwork, and the discipline required in the landscaping industry.

Beyond technical skills, we ensure that apprentices are supported throughout their time with us. Our team is always available to answer questions, offer training, and provide mentoring to help them build confidence and competence. By embedding apprentices into our projects, we help bridge the gap between training and employment, making their transition into the workforce smoother.

Success Stories: Ewan Hardy’s Journey

A great example of this pathway in action is Ewan Hardy, who initially joined us through the Tigers and Morgan Sindall Construction joint venture. After gaining valuable experience, he successfully transitioned into our team. Ewan’s journey highlights the real opportunities that apprenticeships provide, not just for learning but for long-term career progression. You can hear more about his experience in this video: Ewan Hardy’s Story.

The Wider Impact

By providing these opportunities, Paradigm Landscapes is helping to address skills gaps in the construction and landscaping industries. Apprenticeships are vital for ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the skills and experience needed to sustain and grow the sector.

We believe that investing in apprentices is an investment in the future of our industry. Through collaboration, training, and real-world experience, we are proud to support the development of skilled professionals who will go on to shape Scotland’s landscapes for years to come.

As we celebrate Scottish Apprenticeship Week, we encourage other businesses to explore ways they can create meaningful opportunities for young people. Scottish Apprenticeships are Made for Business. Together, we can build a stronger, more skilled workforce for the future.
